Our Team

Dr. Nielsen is a member of the Illinois Optometric Association (IOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA). She has held several offices in the IOA, including president, and received the “Young Optometrist of the Year” from the IOA in 2000.

Currently, she is the Illinois Key Person Coordinator for the AOA, and recipient of the Optometric Recognition Award from the AOA. Dr. Nielsen was named Illinois College of Optometry’s Alumna of the Year in 2008.

Dr. Ticknor began his academic journey at Illinois State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a focus in Physiological and Neurological Behavior. He received his Doctor of Optometry from the prestigious and first optometric school in the country, Illinois College of Optometry.

Dr Ticknor completed a specialty contact lens rotation at North Suburban Vision Consultants and an ocular disease rotation at Rosenbloom Center for low vision and geriatric care. Dr. Ticknor is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Illinois Optometric Association, and is NBEO certified.

Dr. Ticknor practices within the full scope of his optometric degree. He treats and manages various ocular diseases and provides excellent comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages. Dr. Ticknor specializes in dry eye management.

In his free time, Dr. Ticknor loves spending time with his wife and golden retriever. He enjoys casually playing pickup basketball, frisbee golf, and nature walks. Born and raised in Crystal Lake, Dr. Ticknor is a big fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls.
